What are Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are a next-generation biostimulation treatment that are injected to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin in the dermis of the skin, and actively soften the signs of ageing in decreasing the appearance of fine lines and plump the skin. We offer Nucleofill, Plinest and Ameela, in which Nucleofill can also be injected in the scalp where it may improve blood supply and hair growth over time.
How do Polynucleotides Work?
Polynucleotides are made from high molecular weight polynucleotide chains, which act to stimulate dermal fibroblast cells to increase production of collagen and elastin. Polynucleotides are highly viscoelastic, meaning that the skin will regain its ‘bounce’ quickly. The treatment involves injection at several points in the target area, from which the product spreads to treat the dermis over the entirety of the region, much like Profhilo.
What are the benefits?
Polynucleotides provide deep skin hydration, the smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, boosting of collagen and elastin levels and dermal remodelling over time. Your complexion will appear healthy, hydrated and glowing with improved elasticity.
What areas can be treated?
Any areas of the body can be treated with Polynucleotides, the most popular areas being the face and neck. We also offer Plinest Eyes to treat the eye area, improving areas of skin laxity and crepeyness around the eyes. Nucleofill hair can be used to improve scalp health and over time may enhance hair growth.
Can it be used with other treatments?
Polynucleotides can be used in combination with various treatments including; Anti-Wrinkle Injections, Dermal Fillers and regular facials. Our Egyptian Facial, The Bespoke Facial or the Mesotite Facial work well in combination with Polynucleotides.
What is the downtime?
There is minimal downtime with Polynucleotides, dependent on the area. There are often raised bumps from the injection points but these subside within a few hours. There is also a small risk of bruising and/or swelling after any injectables, swelling is likely to occur when treating the under-eye area. To reduce the risk of bruising we suggest that you avoid omega-3 fatty acid supplements, blood thinners and alcohol for 48 hours prior to your injectable treatments.

Can I have Polynucleotides with other injectables in the same appointment?
Yes - we frequently do treatments where Polynucleotides are combined with other injectables, such as Dermal fillers. We generally advise against combining Polynucleotides with IPL treatments as there is an increased risk of swelling.
How often can I have Polynucleotides?
The advised treatment schedule is 2-3 treatments, two weeks' apart, then repeat this every 6-9 months. More sessions can be done without risk, indeed we often see patients once every three months as an alternative to the conventional treatment schedule.
Do you stick to the BAP points for Polynucleotide injections?
In our clinic, we prefer to have a bespoke approach with all injectables, tailoring this to the individual's requirements and clinical appearances. As such we often do a more targeted approach with injections, which we feel gives better results - particularly if there is a problematic area. All of our injectors are highly trained and have extensive experience so will tailor a treatment plan to your unique requirements.
Can Polynucleotides be injected in the forehead?
Yes - we regularly inject the forehead with Polynucleotides. This does not correspond to the BAP points, however, we find this improves outcomes for the overall treatment if there are lines and wrinkles in this area that individual patients wish to be treated.
How long after doing Polynucleotides can I wear makeup?
We usually advise that makeup should be avoided for a 24 hours post-treatment, however, mineral based makeup such as Oxygenetix may be used directly after the procedure.
Can I exercise after having Polynucleotides?
Yes - although this may cause an increased risk of swelling so we'd advise avoiding strenuous exercise directly after the treatment.
