Treatments for Frown Lines

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

The most effective way of treating these lines is with injections of Botulinum toxin. These work by reversing the changes in facial muscle dynamics associated with frown lines, whilst still allowing movement and expression and maintaining a natural look. The treatment works b y temporarily relaxing the muscles between the brows (Glabella muscles), which allows the overlying skin to become smoother.

Microneedling

For those just starting to show early stage frown lines, Microneedling, which is a non-surgical procedure for facial rejuvenation can be effective in diminishing their appearance. This treatment is designed to improve skin quality through creation of micro-injuries to the dermis and epidermis of the skin. Microneedling is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles such as frown lines as it increases the levels of elastin in the skin, resulting in skin tightening and improved skin flexibility.

ULTRACLEAR® Mapping

UltraClear™ Mapping and Lift modes offer an advanced and highly effective solution for treating both fine lines and deeper set wrinkles, such as frown lines, by improving the overall skin quality. Designed for optimal skin ageing management, UltraClear™ utilises cold fibre laser technology to stimulate collagen production and enhance skin repair, producing an impressive skin tightening effect whilst minimising the downtime associated with fractional and ablative skin lasers.

What are Frown Lines?

Frown lines appear when we frown, concentrate or squint; they are the vertical lines between the eyebrows that come about from the forehead muscles squeezing inwards.

It’s a loss of the structural proteins collagen and elastin in our skin that causes frown lines as these provide the skin with elasticity. When there’s a decline in collagen and elastin, our skin can become lax. This is particularly common as we age, however excess exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun can in fact accelerate the decline of collagen and elastin, leading to frown lines.

Smoking can also hinder collagen production, which is why smokers may be more likely to develop frown lines. Anyone who spends excessive amounts of time in the sun without cover or sun protection are also more susceptible, as well as anyone who has a family history of frown lines.

Frown lines don’t need to remain a permanent fixture on your face however. Chat to us about treatments to smooth your skin and minimise the appearance of frown lines.
