Microneedling

Enlarged pores can be reduced with Microneedling, which is a non-surgical procedure for facial rejuvenation. This treatment is designed to improve skin quality through creation of micro-injuries to the dermis and epidermis of the skin. Microneedling is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles such as smile lines as it increases the levels of elastin in the skin, resulting in skin tightening and improved skin flexibility.

What are Enlarged Pores?

Enlarged pores present as little dots on your skin. There may even be blackheads within your pores as dirt, bacteria and oil gets trapped in pores and causes them to become larger and more visible.

But what causes enlarged pores? Ageing is one factor as skin loses its elasticity over time, which can cause skin to stretch, and pores to look bigger. Overexposure to the sun can also cause larger pores and anyone who is acne prone may find that their pores are more likely to get clogged, which can cause them to enlarge. Products such as make up and creams can easily get trapped in pores too.

Things like gender, age and genetics play a role in your natural predisposition to enlarged pores. Some ethinicities tend to be more prone, especially with age progression. Similarly, hormonal fluctuations around menstruation and ovulation can cause pores to change size.

However, enlarged pores can affect anyone, of any age. Get in touch and discover how we can treat your enlarged pores and improve the appearance of skin.
