What is Lip Enhancement?
Lip filler treatments need to be done in a subtle and discrete way, using only the highest quality products. In all of our clinics, we use only the very highest quality hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to replace lost lip volume to restore and hydrate the lips, where volume may have been lost with time and sun damage. Our practitioners are all medically-qualified doctords, trained to create the perfect smile for you – smoothing out lines, replacing volume and improving definition with perfectly natural results.
How does Lip Enhancement work?
We use hyaluronic acid based Dermall Fillers for all lip filler procedures in our London clinics. Hyaluronic acid is a synthetically produced but naturally occuring glycoprotein found in the skin in all animals. Hyaluronic acid acts as a structural molecule in our skin and also as a humectant, meaning it binds water molecules to keep our skin hydrated but does not appear to our immune system as being a foreign body. Hyaluronic acid Dermal Fillers contain molecules that are bound together by cross-links into cohesive gels, meaning they hold their shape when injected into areas where we aim to replace lost volume. When these are injected strategically in the lips in areas of volume loss, they naturally restore the contours of the lips in a subtle and gentle way. The body naturally breaks down hyaluronic acid so over time the fillers are reabsorbed safely into the body with no lasting effects over a course of 12-18 months. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be removed using injections of an enzyme known as hyaluronidase if there are any problems encountered following a filler treatment.
What are the benefits?
Lip enhancement will give you fuller, symmetrical lips with increased definition. This treatment will also smooth fine lines around the mouth.
What areas can be treated?
As our faces age, we tend to lose volume, especially around the mouth, lip enhancements can help replace volume and smooth 'barcode' lines around the lips.
We also offer Dermal Fillers for cheek and midface volume replacement, jawline fillers, nasolabial folds, Tear Trough and for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty to correct bumps and asymmetry of the nose.
Can it be used with other treatments?
Lip Enhancements work extremely well in conjunction with other treatments such as Anti-Wrinkle Injections which smooth fine lines and wrinkles as well as working well with Profhilo to optimise your skin rejuvenation and soften the signs of ageing.
What is the downtime?
There can be raised bumps or slight redness from injection points but this usually subsides within a couple of hours. With any injectables there is always a chance that bruising and/or swelling can occur which would usually arise within 24 hours of your treatment. To reduce the risk of bruising we suggest that you avoid omega-3 fatty acid supplements, blood thinners and alcohol for 48 hours prior to your injectable treatments.

How do I avoid the trout pout appearance with lip fillers?
As London's leading clinic for subtle dermal filler treatments, we will always undertreat rather than overtreat - avoiding excessive filler volume is important to avoid unnatural looking results. We always prefer to perform minimal volumes of dermal filler (which can be added to over time) rather than overfill and create undesirable results. Over the last 15 years' we have built our reputation as being the go-to clinic for subtle lip filler treatments.
Are there any side effects or risks with lip fillers?
Lip filler treatments are generally considered low risk treatments, however, swelling and bruising are relatively common following these treatments due to the vascular nature of the lip area. Other side effects are rare but will be covered at your consultation. It is important to share your medical history at the time of your treatment to eliminate any factors which may place you at higher risk. We only use the highest quality hyaluronic acid based fillers for lip filler treatments at our clinic, which can be easily dissolved if required.
Is there any aftercare to consider after lip filler treatments?
With lip fillers and other dermal filler treatments, we recommend being careful not to touch the area excessively in the first 6 hours or so as this can increase the risk of swelling. We also recommend sleeping slightly propped up, on your back rather than your side, perhaps with an extra pillow or two to reduce the risk of swelling. You may also take an over the counter antihistamine (such as piroton, clarityn or fexofenadine) to reduce the risk of swelling before you go to bed on the day of your filler treatment, and on the following day, to reduce swelling. Bruising can be treated with topical arnica gel or cream. Exercise is best avoided for 24 hours post treatment to reduce the risk of swelling.
Can I wear lipstick after lip filler treatments?
We recommend not wearing makeup around the injected areas for 12 hours after the treatment to reduce the risk of skin infections. Mineral-based makeup including Oxygenetix may be used on the area immediately after the treatment and we would recommend using a sunscreen on the area (such as our ALL DAY LONG moisturiser) to protect the skin which may be sensitive the day after your treatment.
