Treatments for Skin Laxity

Endolift Skin Tightening Treatment

Endolift® is an ideal treatment for localised areas of stubborn fat on the face and body, associated with skin laxity. It is a new generation treatment that offers an alternative to surgical liposuction with much less downtime and risk. The short treatment, performed under local anaesthetic (following a series of injections) causes breakdown of fat pockets which may not shift with diet or exercise, and also causes the skin in the treated area to tighten and lift. It can be used to treat areas such as the abdomen for definition, and also the face as part of a 'nonsurgical facelift' procedure.

Morpheus8

The microneedling component of Morpheus8 creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering the body's natural healing response and boosting collagen and elastin production. Simultaneously, the RF energy penetrates deeper into the skin, heating and tightening the underlying tissue layers. This dual approach not only stimulates collagen remodeling for improved skin firmness but also provides an immediate tightening effect by contracting the deeper tissues. By addressing both the surface and deeper layers, Morpheus8 can effectively reduce skin laxity, improve texture, and restore a more youthful, lifted appearance to areas affected by sagging or loosening skin.

Profhilo

Profhilo is formulated with hyaluronic acid that is injected into the dermis of the skin, where it stimulates a reaction in the skin's fibroblast cells to induce the production of new collagen and elastin for 3-6 months after the treatment series, a process known as neocollagenesis. As these vital proteins are replenished, the skin regains its elasticity and tightness, reducing the appearance of laxity and sagging. The hydrating properties of hyaluronic acid also improve skin quality and texture. With a series of Profhilo treatments, the skin becomes more toned, lifted, and rejuvenated, addressing concerns of skin laxity in a natural and gradual manner without the need for invasive procedures.

What is Skin Laxity?

Loose, lax, saggy skin which has lost its elasticity and plumpness, can occur on the face, however it i also common on the arms, stomach, thighs and neck.

There are various reasons why skin laxity might occur, however the predominant cause is ageing. Over time, levels of collagen and elastin in the skin do decline which can lead to saggier skin as opposed to firm, buoyant skin.

Excess sun exposure can accelerate this ageing, causing a further decline in collagen and elastin. If you’re fair skinned and spend considerable amounts of time in the sun, without sun protection, then you may be more susceptible to skin laxity.

On top of this, fluctuations in weight can lead to skin laxity as changes in fat tissue can lead to sagging, loose skin. This is particularly true if weight loss has occurred rapidly.

Other factors that can lead to skin laxity include hormonal changes such as those that occur during menopause, as well as genetics. In fact, our genes can often impact our skin health as well as collagen and elastic production.

Smokers and those with a diet lacking in nutrients, will also be more prone to skin laxity.
