For those patients who are averse to the idea of injecting any foreign substance into the body, needle shaping is a new treatment that is known as a ‘biostimulation technique’. Dr. Jack is one of the first to perform this novel treatment in the UK.
What is needle shaping?
By placing tiny acupuncture needles in the skin in areas where volume has been lost or small lines have developed, then passing a micro electrical current along the needles, Dr. Jack is able to stimulate the activity of fibroblast cells in the skin and deep tissues to encourage them to produce collagen and elastin tissue. This in effect has a volumising effect, without the use of fillers.
How effective is this treatment?
Like any biostimulation treatment, this really depends on how your body responds to the treatment, as it relies on your own system to produce collagen and elastin tissue. Dr Jack has had some impressive results in his experience using this technology in the last three years.
How does the treatment work?
By placing acupuncture needles in areas where volume has been lost, where filler would perhaps be used to lift tissue, Dr. Jack then passes a tiny electrical current along the needles. This in turn stimulates the activity of the cells in the area to produce new connective tissue, i.e. collagen and elastin. By repeating this process several times, new permanent areas of your own tissue volume are created, lifting and rejuvenating the skin.
