Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Part of growing older means ageing skin, and as our skin looses the elasticity that made it smooth and bright when we were young wrinkles can begin to appear. Many aspects of your life style can have an impact on your skin and some factors mean we can age quicker or more dramatically.

Botulinum toxin A or ‘Botox’ injections can help reduce the signs of ageing in the skin by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, making skin appear younger and smoother.

Dr. Jack offers anti-wrinkle injections at his Harley Street London clinic. He is an advanced practitioner and welcomes all patients interested in Botox to book in for a consultation, but just to give a helping hand here are some Botox FAQ’s so you can read up and learn a little more about Botox-

How does Botox work?

Botox works by relaxing the facial musculature which causes the wrinkles that occur in the face as a result of the ageing process.

How is it administered?

Botox is injected directly into and around the muscles in the face. The wrinkles as then dissipated and over time the skin looks more youthful and smooth.

Is it safe to have Botox?

Botox is nothing new and has actually been used in facial aesthetics for over 20 years. It is a safe technique that is also very effective with minimal side effects. Some patients experience minor bruising in the areas where injections have been given but this is easily treated with arnica gel which Dr. Jack recommends to his patients. Bruising only lasts a few days and otherwise there are few side effects.

Where on the face can Botox help?

The usual areas to be treated with Botox include- the frown lines between the eyes, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet. Botox can also help improve other areas of the face and neck.

What can I expect when having Botox?

Typically the technique of administering Botox involves giving 5-8 small injections per area chosen to be treated. Most patients experience some small level of discomfort but it is brief and the overall treatment time is usually around 10-15 minutes making it great to fit in around your life.

Dr. Jack treats all his patients personally, providing them with a consultation and discussing their desired results and personal expectations and needs.

How long will Botox last?

Contrary to popular belief, the effects of Botox are not actually immediate and it usually takes between 3-7 days for effects to set in, and the maximum effect should be most noticeable around 14 days after the treatment.

Botox usually lasts between 3 and 6 months, after this period Dr. Jack recommends the treatment should then be repeated to continue the effects. Patients do find that with repeat treatments the effects last longer, meaning less Botox treatments are needed over time.

Clients say- ‘Dr David Jack is amazing! I went for Botox on my forehead as I have inherited expression lines from my father and have had them since I was about 24 (now 34). I arrived early, he was able to see me straight away. He has a lovely manner about him, lovely to chat to and made me feel at ease immediately. I am a bit of a needle phoebe, but the treatment was not painful at all. Tiny sting but it didn’t even make me flinch. He is obviously a pro and knows what he was doing as it didn’t take long at all. I am waiting for the effects of the treatment to kick in which takes about a week, but I have noticed the softening of the lines already. No irritation, bruising or puncture marks. I really highly recommend him and cannot sing his praises highly enough!’- Jana
